I apologize for not blogging this past week, Ive been in my favourite winter wonderland also known as Big White, as it's my spring break! It has been snowing like crazy here and I've gone skiing almost everyday except for today so I have a little Fash-Inspiration for you as it's long over due.

A beautiful side pony tail and natural make-up- a lovely look for spring

My favourite look: black jeans, simple t-shirt, leather jacket and shoes that pull the outfit together with a POP of colour!

Grey v-neck, statement skirt and lots of jewellery make this the perfect casual and glamourous outfit!

Valentines Day

Valentines day was slightly uneventful. Here is what I wore and some candy that I received. It was pretty cold outside so when I came home I made some homemade peppermint hot chocolate and put it in my favourite Valentines Day cup and studied for a little bit. I also gave my boyfriend some of his favourite chocolate and a card that I made for him- he always jokes around telling me to make him a card out of macaroni, so I did! Hope you all had a love filled day.

A lovely morning

So far my morning has been really nice. It is the beginning of midterm week- which I have been extremely stressed out for- but I'm feeling good. Im really only worried about one class-my art history class-but I think I'll do alright. I'm sitting at school right now, which is an usual thing for a monday, because I usually only have one class at 8:00 am and Im done at 9:30, yes, 9:30 a.m! :) But today I have an extra news reporting class at 11:00 so i'm preparing for that! It should be interesting, a police officer is coming to speak with us and we have to write a story about him, so Im gearing up some sort of voice recording system on my computer-we'll see how this goes... :/
As we all are probably aware, Valentines day is tomorrow and it's my first ever Valentines where I actually have someone to share it with, so Im excited :) I will be sure to post my outfit of the day and pictures of all of the exciting things that are happening tomorrow. I know school will be quite interesting as they have all of these fun things planned, like a licensed bar, Valentine making and various other sorts of Valentines fun! See you then. Happy Monday!

I'm on break at school and thought I would take a couple minutes to go to seventeen.com and see whats new on the site. I was immediately drawn to an ad in the left corner displaying Seventeen's second annual "Pretty Amazing Contest." Basically the contest is to show "real girls" being "pretty amazing." All you have to do is send in a couple pictures of yourself and a short essay explaining who you are and what makes you "pretty amazing," and you could be whisked off to L.A or New York for "a photo shoot a luncheon, and the opportunity to meet the Editor in Chief of Seventeen." (you will also be on the cover of the magazine) This actually sounds super exciting and I became interested in possibly entering the contest. So I began to explore the links that are posted that provide guidance on "tips for writing your essay," "expert tricks" and "creating a winning entry." As I scanned these short articles and slideshows I came across this..

Maybe I'm the only one but I found the first sentence a little alarming. I understand that Seventeen is a beauty magazine, but Seventeen is also a magazine that promotes "real beauty" and has monthly articles encouraging confidence and giving tips on how to boost ones self esteem. So I found it a little ironic that a contest that is looking for "real girls" is stressing that fact that in order to win, you MUST be pretty.

A lot of people don't agree with me but I strongly believe that every girl is beautiful. Sometimes some girls have to make a little more effort then others, but I still believe it.

So hypothetically if I was to enter the contest right now with an amazing essay entry about how I've struggled for money my whole life and I wanted to help those who were struggling as well, so I organized a food and clothing drive and ended up helping thousands of people and raising thousands of dollars, but then sent in a picture of me with bad make-up, frizzy hair, and cheep old clothes, would I lose, because I don't really know how to do my make-up or hair and I can't afford to buy nice new clothes?

Im sure most girls can agree with me, make-up and hair products can be very expensive, and the process of doing your hair and make-up is not easy AT ALL. I have been wearing make-up since I was 12 years old and I am STILL learning how to do it and am still trying to figure out what looks good on me. So this makes me ugly?

I am clearly shocked at how hypocritical this statement is towards everything their magazine stands for. I honestly have delt and still deal with confidence issues and after reading that statement I was pushed away from entering, out of fear that I am wasting my time entering because I may not be pretty enough for them. I am extremely tired of having to look a certain way to get far in this world. Don't get me wrong, I love doing my hair and make-up and getting dressed up because its fun, but sometimes there is just far to much pressure. It crushes you, it makes me anxious, anxious for my future, my success in life. All of this makes it clear as to why so many girls have a low self esteem.

I am glad I came across this article, because it's just another reason for me to want to become a journalist. I can inform people about this and try to make a change. I hope one day to work for a magazine and organize a contest that actually promotes REAL girls who come in all shapes and sizes and who have flaws and frizzy hair! :p

I took a personal day from class this morning (I did only have one class so its no big deal). I have to work at noon, so I've been sitting at starbucks studying, since midterms are quickly approaching!
Im wearing my favourite pink blouse from Sirens and my new Leather Jacket from H&M. The necklace I'm wearing is one of my favourites right now, it was my Great Grandmothers'. :)

I was just playing with the clothes in my closet and put this outfit together. Im wearing a fitted dress in black lace with a beige slip underneath. I wish I took a photo of the back, the detailing is quite beautiful. There is an open back with 3 bows running down the spine. My friend bought the dress for my 18th birthday last May, I believe it was $25. Im wearing my favourite black blazer, my pocket watch necklace, and nude heels from Le Chateaux that I only payed $29.99 for!

The weather here has been getting colder and colder everyday and more dreary.. so what makes a girl happy when its cold? Wearing summer clothes! (at least that makes ME happy) So I paired my favourite summer lace dress from zara, with a light brown leather jacket that my mom bought for me, leggings to keep my legs nice and toasty and my leopard print UGG boots to protect my feet from the snow! I kept accessories simple by wearing a vintage brown belt and a wooden tooth shaped necklace from Urban Outfitters.

Last night marked an exciting day of the new year as I got another tattoo. I went with my best friend who also got her second tattoo. I don't have any pictures of them right now because the healing process makes them look horrendous; however, I will be sure to post some pictures when they're all healed up! This saturday my boyfriend is getting one of his tattoos filled and he will be getting his third tattoo so I'll be hanging out with him for the day hopefully photographing the whole experience. -if the artist lets me-
This morning I woke up to an e-mail I have been waiting to receive since the day I started making youtube videos back in 2006. Youtube informed me that my channel may be eligible for monetzation, and for a student any kind of income is extremely helpful so I'm really excited about that and hopefully I will be accepted by the end of the week! While were on the subject of money, my tattoo didn't cost be near as much as I thought it would so I made plans to go shopping with my friend Marissa to pick up some things from Sephora, Forever 21, Vicotrias Secret and who knows where else! I had one class this morning from 8:00-9:30 AM, then I rushed over to my university's city centre campus to sell one of my old textbooks and now Im here, reading and tumbling while I wait for my dad to come and pick me up after work. So I'm here for another gruelling 4 and a half hours. I could bus home but I really hate taking public transit and maybe if I'm lucky enough my sister will come pick me up after her 12:30 meeting. I cannot wait until I get my license! Freedom.

Today was my first day of second semester and I started my morning (which was far to early) off right with my favourite breakfast food: yogurt, oatmeal crisp cereal with raspberries and blackberries and to drink Vanilla Roibous Tazo Tea-my favourite! Classes were slow today unfortunately, but I am more than excited for my classes tomorrow. I'm finally getting out of the introductory courses and into the more relevant and exciting courses of my degree! YAY.

Change In Plans

My New Years Eve plans drastically changed which called for a complete wardrobe re-vamp. Instead of me hosting a black tie event at my house, my boyfriend and I were invited to a cabin on a lake for a New Years Eve sleepover extravaganza; complete with beer pong, good music, friends and 6 bedrooms. Given that it was extremely cold out and the fact that we were staying at a cabin for the night I swapped my black strapless dress and heels for a cute blouse, some jeans and my comfy new boots that my dad bought for me- such a sweetheart.- I accessorized with my favourite new large pearl earrings, a clock necklace that I received for christmas and my new coach backpack that my boyfriend bought for me. All in all I stayed warm, looked cute and had a lot of fun. How did your New Years Eve plans turn out?

School is extremely overwhelming right now. I have to right two proposals, an annotated bibliography, a literary analysis, and two research papers in a matter of 3 weeks. So much to do so little time. However I have had time to plan and style my halloween costume. I plan on making a, 'how to' video of the hair, make up, and outfit this weekend!

I have been looking at buying a pair for over 6 months now but didn't think it was worth it to pay $80.00 or more for them. My older sister is on the Edmonton Oilers Dance team, and this weekend the team had two days full of seminars, filming, and practicing. Sooo being the fantastically, lovely sister that I am, I helped her style saturday mornings seminar (business casual) outfit.

This morning as I was browsing http://vogue.com, I saw that they posted a "Beauty Hit List" of the summers best selling products. Given that I love trying new things, I'm going to try to purchase some of the products that interested me, and give reviews of them right here on my blog! I can not believe its been a year since I've updated this blog! Today is my first day of University and a lot is happening. Im having a lot of mixed feelings about my choice of programme. Don't get me wrong I know what I'm taking will be extremely beneficial and will get me to where I want to be in my life. However, being at the arts campus, i see all of the kids with their instruments or walking into the dance or theatre rooms, and I kinda wish I was one of them. Im beginning to miss high school and the various arts and theatre classes that I could take there. I do know however that if I was to take the theatre programme I cannot see myself being successful in that business. Maybe I will keep it as a hobbie, and audition for next years fringe festival or something? We'll see.

Im taking a couple minutes out of my busy life, to give you guys a bit of an update! School started last wednesday and it was so nice to see all my friends and get back to having a routine! However it was very chaotic trying to figure out if i wanted to change my schedule or not. Which as it turns out i am going to drop chem 30, because i have NO IDEA why im taking that class. I really dont need it.So I'm excited to have it disappear from my schedule tomorrow :) I will have more time to do my art without it, so that will be nice.

I dont think I've mentioned this, but i go to a performing and visual arts school, and tomorrow marks the start of the "month of auditions" as we call it. I, specifically will be auditioning for our mainstage production of Shakespears The Two Gentlemen of Verona, i will also be auditioning for our annual Playworks One Act Festival, the one acts are directed by our grade 12 Directing 35 class. Which all of my friends are in so its an exciting year for them. Lastly I am auditioning for our mainstage musical production of Curtains, it actually recently came off broadway, and im sure you would recognize the songs if you heard them. Im pretty nervous for that one, as i have never auditioned for our musicals before and am not a strong singer, but i would really love the experience! So wish me luck :)

Oh No!

I went to the Lady Gaga concert last friday, which was amazing! Her costumes are extravagent. Lots of pointed shoulders, and shoulderpads and shiny latex types of fabric (weird, im listening to the radio and bad romance just came on :D) Shes has such a powerful voice, and is actually a really great dancer. I was also pleased to see that someone who comes off so crazy is actually really down to earth, funny and passionate. She is so set on making sure that her "little monsters" were free of insecurities and having fun. She did so many wonderful things for many of her fans, including my friend who was sitting front row. I would absolutely go see her live again, no doubt about it. And if you havnt seen Lady Gaga live, i highly suggest that you do, i will forever remember that concert. I unfortunately didnt take to many pictures, i did however take a lot of videos for some reason? But i will post the pictures that i do have:

Highschool

Had my registration for my last year of highschool today. Wow i can't believe im almost done highschool. This is soo crazy, time is going by so fast!
I had such a wonderful day, seeing my friends, getting my schedule, and getting my new locker. Its gonna be such a great year i can feel it. After registration my sister and I went shopping. I didnt buy much as i was super exhausted because i couldnt sleep last night and had to wake up early to be at school, so i wasnt really in the mood for searching through the rack and racks of clothing that usually would excite me.
Im still trying to get inspired for some back to school outfits and have been scouring the internet, and magazines like crazy. Ive put together a collage of some of my favorite looks!

Have you ever had one of those days where you just wanna sit around at home and not have to do your hair, or makeup? Well today is one of those days for me. I wish i could have just stayed in bed all day because nothing i do is enjoyable. AT ALL. im bored out of my mind. I always feel this way at the end of summer. I'm ready to go back to school and see my friends and get back into auditions, and all the artsy stuff that goes on at my school. However its my last year of high school which means diplomas, which equals stress, and lots of it! So im not looking forward to that part. haha.

These are some pictures of my friends and I last weekend. Summer is slowly coming to an end, and i am rather saddened by that fact. Its just starting to get fun, and im just starting to get fearless, and have more confidence and let loose more. Oh well, school shall be entertaining as well, since it will be my last year of high school! EEK. There are so many emotions running through my head. Im nervous, scared, and excited. Its gonna be a great year though, i can feel it!
